Miriam Zuk | Partner
Miriam has been advancing environmental and housing justice through research and policy for over twenty years. She co-founded the Urban Displacement Project, a research and action lab at the University of California at Berkeley, and is widely published on the issues of gentrification, displacement, and equitable and sustainable development.
Miriam’s upbringing as a first-generation American and grandchild of Holocaust survivors instilled in her the value of honoring differences and the drive to fight against injustice and oppression from an early age. Before becoming an urban planner, Miriam worked on improving air quality in urban environments, serving as the Deputy Director of Air Quality Research for the Mexican Ministry of Environment in the early 2000s.
Miriam has a Ph.D. in urban planning from the University of California at Berkeley, an M.S. in technology and policy from M.I.T., and a B.A. in environmental science from Barnard College. Her superpower is her curiosity, and she tends to fall for places once she gets to know the people.
